Want to know how to gain weight fast? The first thing you need to do is start counting the amount of calories you are consuming each day. Why is this crucial, because weight gain requires you to consume far more calories then what you burn. On average for every pound you want to gain you need to eat at least 3500 more calories than your average caloric requirements for your current weight and height.

You do not need to make drastic changes to your diet, just add more calories slowly. You will be able to start noticing a difference really soon, especially if you are doing intense muscle training exercises. Counting calories also means keeping track of your weight on the scale. This will help you monitor your progress so you can make adjustments if you need to.

Now when I say you have to consume more calories I do not mean that you have to eat everything you see. You do not want to include unhealthy foods that might cause you to gain the wrong kind of weight. The goal should be to gain lean muscle. This can be done by having a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can then add different healthy snacks to the mix as you see fit throughout the day.

You do not want to eat really large meals, you want to eat decent sizes, but focus on extending this throughout the day.  Foods you should try to consume would include lean meats like steak, chicken, fruits, milk, vegetables, different nuts, and beans. Planning meals in advance will help you stay faithful to your goals.

Now in order to know how to really gain weight fast you must know how to gain the right type of weight. So this means you will need to know how to workout with weights. If you do not engage in some sort of weight training, then a lot of the weight you gain is going to be fat, and that is undesirable of course. So create a weight training regimen.

Try to focus on free weights, because universal machines tend to not do the job as well. Workout regularly, at least 3-4 times per week. Make sure you are lifting the proper amount of weight when you go, you will really want to be able to “feel” the workout. Give yourself time to recover; this will help build muscle more effectively. As you get stronger and gain more endurance you can then start increasing the weight in your workout.

You can also add protein shakes and powders to the mix. I do not know how some of you feel about these products, but they can be a great way to get the extra boost of protein you need without having to eat a lot of meats. Beans are also a good option for high protein without having to gorge yourself on meats.

Remember, just because you want to know how to gain weight fast does not mean you have to risk your long term health. Always keep health in mind and take things one step at a time.
